About

Nervous and the Kid Marquee“Nervous” was a nick name Chris Bolton earned for being a fidgety and generally worried 20 something. His younger brother Andrew, who was encouraged to learn drums to support Chris’ musical ambitions was dubbed ‘The Kid” (because he was usually the youngest person at the venue and sometimes required a fake ID).

When the brothers moved to Portland in 2000 it only made sense to name their fledgling indie-country-psych-folk-rock group “Nervous and the kid.”

Over the past ten years Nervous and the kid has broken up, gotten back together, lost members, gained members, recorded 2 albums, done 3 west coast tours, witnessed some births, deaths, marriages, and weathered all the usual ups and downs that come with being afloat in the world.

In the fall of 2010 a recent incarnation of the group headed out to a beach house on the Oregon coast to record Good Morning Giantess. The album was then mixed in various bedrooms and basements in the Portland area and self-released on CD Baby (of which Chris is an employee of).

Nervous and the Kid currently sports 7 talented souls:
